Level Up 1/7: You Already Know What to Do. Let's Go! #MakingMovesMonday
Science Soul Success ✨
Real talk—how long have you been sitting on that idea? 🤔
You know the one I'm talking about. The move you keep saying you're gonna make. The thing you've been "planning" for weeks, maybe months. Yeah, that one.
On today's Making Moves Monday episode of the Suite Spot, Dr. Derek Suite is calling us all out with love. Because here's the thing: you already know what you need to do. Deep down, you know. So what's really holding you back?
It's not time. It's not information. It's not waiting for the stars to align.
It's your brain playing tricks on you.
When you overthink, your brain's threat center goes into overdrive. It starts throwing up red flags everywhere. "What if it doesn't work?" "What if people laugh?" "What if you fail?" And before you know it, you're stuck researching, planning, waiting for some perfect moment that doesn't exist. 🧠
Kobe Bryant knew the secret: "Everything negative—pressure, challenges—is all an opportunity for me to rise." The Mamba didn't sit around waiting to feel brave. He just moved. 💪
Listen to what Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." You don't have to have it all figured out. That's not your job. Your job is to take the step.
Les Brown said something that hit me different: "You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great." Read that again. You're over here waiting to feel qualified, but the qualification comes from doing the thing, not thinking about it.
You don't need the whole map. Just take one step. 🎯
And hey, Tony Robbins reminds us: "The path to success is to take massive, determined action." Not perfect. Not flawless. Just determined. Just committed. Just NOW.
Your future? It's not built on getting everything right. It's built on showing up, messing up, learning, and moving forward anyway. That's the game. 🔥
So let me ask you again: what's your move today?
Not someday. Not when you feel ready. TODAY.
Make the call.
Send that text.
Post that thing.
Make your move.
Start that conversation.
Whatever it is—stop thinking about it and DO it now.
AFFIRMATION: I already know what I need to do. I don't need permission or perfect timing. I have everything I need right now to take my next step.
STAY AMAZING!!!

Greetings and welcome. Welcome beautiful souls. Welcome back to the sweet spot. It's making moves Monday. Are you ready? I am. Let's go in. Let's have a great week. Let's make a move today and set in motion the best week ever. How is that? For those of you who don't know me, I'm Dr. Derek Sweet. I'm a board certified psychiatrist. I specialize in high performance. But more than that, I enjoy working with individuals to help them live the best life ever. And that's what we're here on this planet to do is to live our purpose, live our dream, and live our best lives. And that's what we are dedicated to here on the sweet spot. So let's dive right in. It's Making Moves Monday, and we're kicking things off with a fresh truth. Most of us don't need more time to make our move. That's just a fact. What we need is more courage to start. I find that when I'm not making a move on something, it's not that I don't have the time or the stars aren't aligned or all of that, it's that I don't have the courage. And when you don't have the courage and you don't have the power inside of you to overcome the fear, what happens is that you get stuck and you get started with something like overthinking. And when you start overthinking, forget it. The amygdala, the threat center in the brain starts getting just overly active, and you go into overdrive, and then we start over planning. We want the plan to be perfect, we want the timing to be ideal, and we want to have a hundred percent confidence that it's gonna be perfect and that things are gonna work out and that we're locked in before making our move. But guess what? Life doesn't usually work like that. The thing is, you gotta make the move actually to create the momentum, not the other way around. You don't have to always just try to figure out the momentum to make the move. That's what slows us down. So here on Making Moves Monday, we're talking about finding the courage this Monday to make the move that you need to make, whatever your move is, and whatever your field is, whatever your performance challenge is, whatever it is that you have to do, it's about courage, it's about finding the courage, digging deep inside your mind, body, and spirit to find it. And speaking of spirit, in ancient wisdom, there is this wonderful quote from one of the uh verses, I think it's in Joshua, Joshua 1 9, one of my favorite verses. And the it goes like this it says, Look, have I not commanded you, have I not demanded of you that you be strong and be courageous? Do not be afraid, don't be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. How amazing is that! Number one, God is telling us, get out there and be strong, have courage, and you know what that means? It's not saying that there isn't gonna be fear, courage is being able to act and to be uh the intentional in the middle of being afraid, feeling the fear, but doing it anyway, and that's the command, that's what the good Lord wants us to do: not be afraid, don't be discouraged either, don't let things just get you down to the point where you're not making your move. And here's the part that I love about this particular quote in Joshua 1.9 is that it says that God, I'm with you wherever you go. And you know this is one of my favorite quotes because I often say in this sweet spot that if we knew who was standing beside us whenever we faced a threat, whenever we faced a problem, a situation that looked bigger than us, we would never back down, we would never shrink, we would never run away, because we know who is gonna be with us wherever we go. That's so powerful, and that should give us the courage to take the first step, right? Because as the other quote goes, a thousand, a thousand miles, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. That's all we have to do, and that one step will create the momentum for us to take another step, and before you know it, you are on the journey. So here's the thing, here's the thing. You've got to combine your courage with the momentum of taking an action. You've got to take your courage and your bravery, put it in front of you, put it beside you, trust that God is with you, trust that the highest power in the world, in the universe is gonna be with you, backing you up, and then you take your first step. You take your first step, you've got to start small. You just don't need to see the whole path. You just need to take that step, take that one action and build from there. James Clare put it this way: if you're not willing to start small, you're gonna stay stuck big. Your future doesn't depend on perfection, it depends and it needs progress. So, what's your next move? Is it an email you have to send? Is it a book that you have to write? Do you have to block time out to go work out? Is it the doctor that you need to go visit? Is it going to practice and being there on time and putting your all into it? Is it about asking for the raise or the promotion that you deserve? Is it about telling somebody no, make a move. Just make a move. Just one move. And if you can't make the move, write it down. Just write down what it is you intend to do. That's your move for today. So here's your challenge: one move, one step, one act of courage. Because when you make your moves, that's when the doors open. This is the sweet spot. This is Making Moves Monday. You've got this. I believe in you. Make your move today, and I'll see you tomorrow for Take Action Tuesday. This is Dr. Derek Sweet. If you like what you're hearing and this made sense to you, I'm asking you to please join me here on YouTube by subscribing. But more than that, I'd love for you to share this with somebody who you believe would benefit from making their move with courage today.
