Speaker 1:

Welcome. Welcome to the Sweet Spot. This is Dr Sweet, and we're in the middle of Trust Yourself, thursday. Now, for those of you who don't know me, I'm a board certified sports and performance psychiatrist, and whether I'm a board certified sports and performance psychiatrist, and whether I'm working with world class athletes or innovative business leaders, I've noticed something powerful before there can be an external victory, there's usually an internal one, and the internal victory that precedes the external victory is usually learning to trust yourself. That's why we're here today, my friends, and that's why this is your spot.

Speaker 1:

All week we've been exploring appreciation, the power of appreciation, how it builds momentum, drives action and creates winners. Today, we're turning that appreciation inward to build something essential, and that essential thing we're building is rock-solid self-trust. You would be surprised how many of us don't have rock-solid self-trust. You would be surprised how many of us don't have rock-solid self-trust. Here's what I've noticed in my work with high-performance we often trust others more than we trust ourselves. We look outside for validation when the real goldmine is within. Think of the scripture that says Greater is that which is in you, he that's in you, than he that's in the world or what's in the world. But we all go around looking in the world and looking around everywhere to get validation, to get a second opinion, a third opinion, a fourth. Sometimes we can't stop until we have 10,000 opinions and we still don't know what to do right. But here's the game changer when you learn to truly appreciate your own unique journey, your own wisdom and your own instincts, that's when everything shifts. Think about it Self-trust isn't just feeling good about yourself. It's about honoring your inner compass. It's about appreciating your own experiences, even the difficult ones, because it's those difficult ones that actually give you your wisdom. When you start trusting yourself, you don't just make decisions, you make them with power and conviction because you trust you.

Speaker 1:

I remember working with a performer who was second-guessing her every move, her every decision. She had fallen into a trap of just doubting and doubting and doubting, and it took a while. But by using the power of appreciation, learning how to appreciate small victories, small things, and building on that, there was a transformation. And as the trust began to build, more production and more efficacy was shown in the work. And that's what you have to do is to use self-trust as a strategy, and I'd like you to try this thing. On that I work with performers on.

Speaker 1:

It's called a trust triangle, and the trust triangle has these three points. One is that you appreciate your journey. Every experience matters, every experience counts. Every experience has shaped you into being who you are today, even the bad ones. So if you could take a moment with me right now and just step back and just think about a bad experience and recognize how it's shaped you.

Speaker 1:

Two honor your instincts, that gut feeling that's years of experience talking to you. Trust your spidey senses, my friend. Three trust your timing. Your path is uniquely yours. So it's not happening right now, just put the word yet. So you didn't get the promotion yet. So you're not getting to start on the team yet you haven't gotten the raise your book or your project yet right. Trust your timing because your path is uniquely yours and you have to appreciate your own unique journey and rhythm. So the trust triangle is yours.

Speaker 1:

This Trust Yourself Thursday to use. You appreciate your journey, honor your instincts and trust your timing. Why does this matter? Because when you trust yourself, decisions become clearer. It's just a fact. When you appreciate your journey, doubt loses its power. When you honor your instincts, confidence just grows naturally. When you trust your timing, pressure transforms itself into peace. Remember, Remember this Self-trust isn't about being perfect. Remember, remember this Self-trust isn't about being perfect. It's about appreciating your perfectly imperfect journey. Give yourself permission to be imperfect. Your experiences aren't just memories, they're your inner guidance system. Your challenges aren't just obstacles, they're your teachers. That's your Trust Yourself.
