Dr. Derek Suite - The Suite Spot

Pattern Interrupt: Breaking the Stress Cycle 7/7

Derek H. Suite, M.D.

Take a deep breath and look up! The universe never rushes—so why do you?

After a week of exploring stress cycles and resilience tools on the Suite Spot, Dr. Derek Suite takes us on a cosmic detour to gain perspective on what truly matters.

Did you know that the light touching your eyes from distant galaxies began its journey before humans walked the Earth?

Stars explode to create the elements in your body. Dark Matter shapes entire galaxies while remaining invisible. These cosmic realities offer profound lessons for navigating our hectic lives.

Through four powerful insights from space, we discover how "zooming out" makes today's challenges more manageable. We learn that breakdowns often precede breakthroughs, just as supernovas create the building blocks of life.

We explore how invisible forces—whether dark matter or your own mental strength—work powerfully behind the scenes.

Perhaps most importantly, we realize that simple, consistent practices create extraordinary results over time.

This episode bridges science and soul, weaving astrophysics with ancient wisdom to remind us of our place in the cosmic order.

When we remember how small we are against the vastness of space, our problems rightfully shrink.

Your invitation today is simple: step outside, look up at the night sky as if seeing it for the first time, and let the universe remind you that sometimes, slowing down is the fastest way to build strength.

Speaker 1:

Hey there, beautiful souls, welcome. Welcome back to the Sweet Spot. It is Slow Down Sunday and I'm your host, dr Derek Sweet. Thank you so much for spending this week with me as we looked at stress cycles, we looked at resilience and we figured out some tools to help us be masters of the game. Well, today, today is Slow Down Sunday and we're going to take a little bit of a different turn. We're not going to dive into too much neuroscience today.

Speaker 1:

As you know, we sometimes look into the cosmos. We go into a little astrophysics on Sundays here on the Sweet Spot, just to give us something different. After all, we can't spend all of our time in neuroscience, right? Okay now. So here's what I've noticed. The universe, it never rushes. Stars take billions of years to do their thing. Galaxies spin in what looks like slow motion to us. Even light literally the fastest stuff in existence takes its sweet time crossing space.

Speaker 1:

And as the astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson once said and I'm quoting him the universe is under no obligation to make sense to you. I love that quote because it takes the pressure off of me to want to have to control everything and to try to understand everything and make sense of absolutely everything. This is echoed in ancient wisdom, as you know, on the sweet spot, where is science and soul? This is where science meets soul. And, yeah, in ancient wisdom, in Psalm 8, it says when I consider your heavens, what is mankind? That you are even mindful of them? You know, there's something calming about remembering how infinitesimally small we are. We're tiny, we're specks on this universe. And when you slow down today, I want you to think of these four quick lessons from space that I'm going to share with you. Lesson one zoom out of your timeline that light hitting your eyes from the galaxies far away started traveling before humans even existed, according to science. Suddenly, today's game, or that tough meeting seems a bit more manageable. Right, when you think about the fact that the very light coming into your eyes has traveled eons to get to you.

Speaker 1:

Lesson two good stuff can come from tough breakdowns. Did you know that stars literally explode to create the elements we are made of of? Sometimes, what feels like a total collapse is actually setting up your greatest comeback. I've heard it put this way sometimes good things have to fall apart so that great things can happen or come together. Lesson three the most powerful forces are often invisible. Dark matter. For example, shapes the entire galaxies, but you can't see it. Oxygen is critical to life, but we can't see it. The same is true with your mental strength. It's working, my friend, even if you can't see it. And for those of you who are on the more spiritual side, the same is true of God Right. When you can't see or feel God, that doesn't mean that God isn't working for you.

Speaker 1:

Lesson four Simple practices can create big results. It's one of my favorites. The universe runs on just a few basic laws that create endless variety your resilience. It works the same way. Small, consistent habits will build extraordinary strength in you and give you the results that you're looking for. That one step in front of the other, one tiny step, one habit that you keep repeating, a good habit, will pay dividends in ways that you can't imagine.

Speaker 1:

So later tonight, do me a favor step outside for a minute. Look up. If you live in a place where there's some stars, hopefully you might see the moon or the clouds. You might see something amazing up in the sky. And look at the sky as if you've never seen it before. That's your slow down sunday challenge today. That's your way of resetting and rewiring your brain, reminding yourself of how small we are in comparison to the great, vast universe. This is Dr Derek Sweet, reminding you that sometimes, slowing down is the fastest way to build your strength. I will catch you next week. I don't know where we're going, but we're going to go somewhere amazing. So you stay amazing and slow down. Enjoy your Sunday and I'll catch you again on Making Moves Monday. Love and blessings. If you'd like to connect with me, don't hesitate. Don't hesitate to contact me on Twitter, on Instagram I was about to say Facebook I'm not on facebook, I'm on x, uh, and where else am I? Oh yeah, I'm on linkedin and I'm also on threads and youtube. There you go, go.
