Slow Down Sunday 7/7: Take a Cosmic Pause
Have you ever noticed how the universe never seems to rush? Galaxies form, stars burn, and planets orbit in their cosmic dance over billions of years—and somehow, everything gets done without the frantic energy we bring to our daily lives.
This special Slow Down Sunday episode explores what cosmic wisdom can teach us about the power of deceleration in a world obsessed with speed and constant activity.
Join Dr. Derek Suite in considering what might happen if you took a cue from the cosmos and embraced the transformative power of simply slowing down.
The episode introduces what I call the "Four S's": Stillness, Silence, Surrender, and Solitude. Each represents a different pathway to reconnecting with our deeper selves and the natural rhythms of life.
We explore how stillness allows insights to catch up with us, how silence helps us process thoughts and release stress, how surrender aligns us with natural flow rather than exhausting resistance, and how solitude nurtures our inner world away from technological distractions.
The most profound wisdom often comes when we create space to hear it.
The ancient wisdom to "be still and know" remains as relevant today as ever.
Ready to experience the power of slowing down? Your divine rhythm is waiting to be discovered in that quiet space.

Greetings, greetings, sweet Spotters, love and blessings to you this beautiful Sunday. I'm Dr Derek Sweet, I'm your host here on the Sweet Spot and we've come to slow down Sunday on the Sweet Spot. All week long we've been dealing and grappling and exploring these power, phrases and words that have gotten us through, and we've come to the point in the week where we slow down a bit. Today we're taking a deep breath and looking at the universe for some profound wisdom. Think about it. The universe isn't in a hurry, is it? Galaxies spin, stars form and planets orbit in their cosmic dance that just unfolds over billions of years and everything just seems to get done and we're not in control of that, just happens. There's got to be a lesson somewhere in that all that organization, all that power happening when we don't have control. You see, we live in a culture, my friend, that glorifies speed and constant activity. That's what I'm trapped in. Every day I'm getting up and running trying to get it done. But what if we took a cue from the cosmos, from the universe? What if we embraced that power of slowing down?
Speaker 1:On Slow Down Sunday, someone once said almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, even you, and it's so true. We do need to unplug, we do need that time to reboot, to recharge, and you know where that comes. That comes from moments of stillness. Silence, moments of surrender and solitude. That's where we recharge our batteries. Stillness Imagine the vast silent expanse of space, if you can. There's a profound peace in that stillness. It's in those quiet moments that we can hear our inner voice. We can connect with our intuition, find answers and clarity and insights. If only we could be still long enough for these insights and answers to catch up with us. We're so busy moving that we miss so much because we just won't be still. Silence, that's another one. The universe is mostly silent. Trees grow quietly, oxygen is all around us. It's quiet. The sun shines brilliantly. It's quiet. Some of the most powerful things in the world are so quiet, so silent, and yet they speak volumes In our own lives. Silence, well, it allows us to process our thoughts whenever we can afford the moment of silence. Us to process our thoughts whenever we can afford the moment of silence. Silence helps us to release stress. When we can find a moment to catch up with ourselves. Silence can help us find inner peace. All three things processing our thoughts, releasing stress and finding inner peace, tied into moments of stillness and silence. And what about the third S?
Speaker 1:We talked about Surrender. You might think that surrender is about weakness. It's nothing at all. The universe is powerful because it operates in a natural flow. Planets don't resist their orbits, the laws of physics are followed. Everything surrenders to the laws, and we too can surrender to the present moment. We too can let go of control and find peace in the flow of life. Take a breath right now and be conscious of it and let go In. So doing, you have surrendered to the moment, you've surrendered to the natural flow, you're not resisting. And then there's solitude. Even the stars exist in a vast solitary space.
Speaker 1:Solitude has power because you know what. It gives you the opportunity to connect with yourself and not be distracted and rely on the TV, the Alexa, the smartwatch or whatever it is, the phone to have a sense of being in your moment, right. So here's the thing Solitude gives you the opportunity to connect with yourself, to reflect on your values and to nurture your inner world. You know what I think? I just turned on my Alexa when I said Alexa, alexa, stop. I can hear it in the background and that's the world we live in, right? So in this moment I'm talking to you and I mentioned that word and all of a sudden it starts speaking and disturbs my solitude. So just to repeat solitude gives you the opportunity to connect with yourself, to reflect on your values and to nurture your inner world.
Speaker 1:So this Sunday this is Slow Down Sunday let's take a moment to unplug, let's find some stillness. I challenge you to do that. I challenge you to embrace silence for two minutes, to surrender to the present and to seek some solitude, silence, surrender, solitude and stillness. I have a great friend and this is what he does. He's deeply into this, and let's remember that when we are a part of something bigger and vast and more powerful than ourselves, we find our divine rhythm. We find our divine purpose in stillness. I find my divine rhythm. We find our divine purpose in stillness. I find my true self. Ancient wisdom puts it this way be still, just be still, and know, and know I am God.
