Speaker 1:

Greetings and welcome. Welcome, beautiful souls. Welcome back to the sweet spot. You did it. It's Making Moves Monday and we're here together to go on the journey this week. I'm Dr Derek Sweet.

Speaker 1:

As you know, I'm a board certified psychiatrist. I specialize in high performance and sports psychiatry and I specialize in helping individuals live their best life ever. So this week we're going to take a dive into the power of your stand, and I'm here to remind you that when I say stand, I'm not just talking about standing up, although that's a part of it. You see, standing, my friend, isn't always about your feet. Sometimes it's about your focus, sometimes it's about your faith. Sometimes your stand is about holding your ground when life is trying to move you around and tell you something different. Because when life pushes, your purpose has to stand up to it. When life threatens you, your resolve has to be in a stand. When pressure rises, your character must stand, and when everything feels shaky, the strongest thing you can do is stand. And around here, around these parts, as they say, we believe when you stand, you win.

Speaker 1:

Now let's talk about standing on business. That's a phrase I hear all the time in the sports world. Many teams, many athletes, many performers I work with. They are into this. They say to me Doc, we're standing on business and when you're standing on business, you are standing your ground, you are living by your values. You're not going to be shaken, you're not going to be told that you can't get this done. You're not giving in to doubt or worry, you're just not because you're standing on business. See, anybody can talk about what they believe, anybody can post about what they value, but when you're standing on business, you're standing on the next level. When you're standing on business, you can't be moved off the block. That's next level. That's what shows up when nobody's watching. That's what shows up when the hype fades.

Speaker 1:

Is your stand? How are you standing? Will you stand? Will you stand strong? Will you be courageous? How bold is your stand?

Speaker 1:

You know, there's an old saying those who stand for nothing stand for everything. And when you stand for everything, you're not really in a stand. Your stand has to be specific, it has to be linear, it has to be focused. You can't stand for nothing and you can't stand for everything. You've got to be standing on your business, standing on what's real, okay. And you do have to stand for something now because, as Alexander Hamilton said once if you don't stand for something, you're going to fall for anything. So you do have to be in a stand, and ancient wisdom puts it this way Be on guard, be vigilant, Stand firm in faith, be courageous and be strong. And today is Making Moves Monday. So, wow, ancient wisdom is telling us to be on guard, to stand firm in faith and to be courageous and be strong. I don't care what you're facing today, I don't care how big the mountain is in front of you, I don't care what people are saying, I don't care what your little negative voice is telling you. You must stand. You've got to be in your stand and you know when you're standing strong and when you've made a decision to stand.

Speaker 1:

Hey, you know the prefrontal cortex. We talk about this almost every single. Every single time I talk to you, I tell you your brain has an executive boardroom and in this boardroom, in your brain, the executive boardroom has something called the prefrontal cortex. It loves clarity. The prefrontal cortex of your brain wants to know what do you stand for, because when it knows what you stand for, it literally quiets the noise in your head. There's less distraction, less worry, less anxiety and much more direction. So you've got to lock in. And that's what it means. When a player tells me, hey, I'm standing on business, I know that player is locked in. Okay, when you say I'm standing on business and you look in the mirror, it anchors you and it lets you know that everything is going to be okay, even if it feels shaky. So you've got to make your move.

Speaker 1:

Here's your Making your Move Monday challenge right, I want you to write down or identify three things you're going to stand on this week, three non-negotiables, three values that are not up for debate. And then I want you to move like it, act like it, live like it and stand on that. Because when you stand on business, my friend, you move different, you lead different, you talk different, you win different, you feel different. You know, my wife and I, sometimes, when we have to do a big project or we're facing something, we'll say to each other what do you stand for, what's your stand today, what are you in a stand for? And I'll say to each other what do you stand for, what's your stand today, what are you in a stand for? And I'll say, well, I'm going to stand for courage. Or she'll say, well, I'm going to stand for love, or whatever the word is. Whatever your word is today, whatever you're going to stand on, whatever business you're going to stand on today, make that your resolution and never forget. Make that your resolution and never forget. Standing ain't always about your body. It's about your being. Stand on your truth, stand on your purpose, stand on your courage, stand on your God, stand for what you believe, because when you stand, you win. Don't let anybody take you out of your stand. All right now.
