THE SUITE SPOT PRESENTS: MAKING MOVES MONDAY
Where am I now?
Today’s episode kicks off our weeklong series, The Seven Life-Changing Questions.
We start by grounding you — mind, spirit, and nervous system — in the truth of where you actually are. Because you can’t make a real move if you don’t know your starting point.
In this 3-minute reset, you’ll hear why self-location is the foundation of every high-performance shift, how your brain responds to honest awareness, and how God uses clarity as the first step toward transformation.
This episode will help you stop rushing, stop guessing, and start moving from real truth.
And tomorrow?
We dive into Take Action Tuesday with the question:
“What’s really holding me back?”
Trust me — that one hits deeper than you think.
If this episode speaks to you, subscribe, share, and send it to someone who needs a Monday reset that actually changes something.

Welcome, welcome back to the sweet spot. You're listening to Dr. Derek Sweet, I'm your board certified psychiatrist, and you know that's all good. What I really am is your partner on this journey we call life. And it's been my pleasure over these past couple of years to be talking to you on a daily basis. Do you realize we speak every single day? That every day we have a message. This is Making Moves Monday, and this week is going to be super special. This week we're going to keep it short and sweet. No pun intended on the name Dr. Sweet, there. Okay. So people have been challenging me. They're like, Doc, you can't do nothing short. You can't give us a short message. Your messages are always so long. Well, you know why? Because I have a lot to say. This week on The Sweet Spot, we're gonna keep it much shorter for you. I'm gonna take the challenge. I'm gonna give you the seven questions this week that can change your life. That's right. Seven questions that can change your life. Wow. Not because questions sound wise, but because sometimes the thing that moves your life, moves your life forward, isn't a new answer. We're always searching for answers. What if we should be searching for a better question? A question that wakes you up, a question that makes you see yourself again, a question that brings you back into alignment, more so than looking for answers. And we're gonna do seven of them. And because it's Making Moves Monday, we're starting with one question, one intentional question, that your every move should be built on. And you know what that question is for Making Moves Monday? Where am I now? Where am I now? That's the question I want you to walk around with today, live with today, and move with today on Making Moves Monday. Where are you now? Take a deep breath and let it out. Where am I now? Now let me tell you why that question matters. Because before you make a move, my friend, in your career, in your health, in your relationships, in your spiritual life, wherever you have to make it, you have to know your position. You have to know the ground under your feet. Clarity isn't about judgment. Clarity is about direction. And here's something most people don't realize. This where am I is actually in the ancient wisdom. Of course, you know here on the sweet spot, we're about science, soul, and success. And we always go to the ancient wisdom. So this question, this first of the seven questions we're asking, the where am I now question, yes, is anchored in the ancient wisdom. Believe it or not, it's the first question God ever asked a human being. In the Garden, the Garden of Eden, God calls out to Adam, and what does he say? Adam, where are you? Not because he didn't know, it was because Adam didn't know where he was, what's going on. And that's the wisdom tucked inside of this question, my friend. God wasn't asking for location, He was inviting reflection. God was saying, face yourself, see yourself, tell the truth to yourself. Where am I? Before God gave instruction, He asked a question. Before you give instructions, before you make your move today or making moves Monday, before you make an assumption, ask a question. Be curious. Before transformation, there was orientation. You have to know where you are. And that's why in Proverbs it says that the prudent, the wise, give thought to their steps. You've got to think before you step, not to freeze up, not to be too hesitant, but so that you could move with intention. And you know, here we're about the neuroscience too, not just the ancient wisdom. We spend time in the neuroscience. There's a part of your brain called the insula, I-N-S-U-L-A. The insula. Your thought is going to see the prefrontal cortex. I know I beat that one into the ground, but today we're going a little bit sideways. Today we're talking about the part of your brain called the insula. Think of it as your internal dashboard. It's the part of your brain that tracks your emotional temperature, it tracks your energy, it tracks your stress. It's always looking at your state of readiness. The insula is your internal dashboard. And anytime you pause in life and you ask this question, Where am I now? The insula lights up in the brain. And you know what will do? It will help your mind settle, it will help your decisions sharpen. It will help your spirit center itself before you take the next step, before you make the next move, because you'd stopped to ask the question. And this is why today's question of the seven questions we're going to be dealing with this week sits at the front of the entire series. If you want to make moves, my friend, real moves, wise moves, sustainable moves, you don't start with speed. You don't start with your reflexes, you start with honesty. You start with awareness, with presence. So here's your check-in for today. Just finish this sentence gently. Right now, I am. And then say whatever comes after that, whatever is true for you. Locate yourself. This is where you are. Tired? Strong? Happy? Sad? Worn out, hopeful, still trying, grinding, healing, pissed off, angry, blessed. Where are you? It doesn't matter where you are, because God can work with anything as long as it's honest. As long as you're not hiding from it. You know, that's what Adam was doing, is hiding. I get it. And here's the encouragement I want to take, I want you to take with you today, right? No matter where you are, are you stuck? Are you in some kind of a situation? You're not lost. You're not behind. You're just simply where you are. You are here. And here is enough for God to start something new. Here is enough for a step. And a step is enough for you to have a shift. Do you get that? First, locate yourself. First, be honest about where you are and answer the divine call. And then make your move. This is making moves Monday. This is Dr. Derek Sweet. I believe in you. I know you're gonna make the right move. I trust you for that. Go for it. Tomorrow, tomorrow's Take Action Tuesday, my friend. We're gonna ask, we're gonna ask ourselves the next life question. What's really holding me back? And trust me, that one opens doors. Alright, if today helped you, share it with somebody who might need a gentle reset at the start of their week this week. And I'll meet you right back here tomorrow for our second question. Remember, walk around with where am I? Where am I? Where are you? Peace and love. This is Dr. Sweet. Bye bye.
