SPEAKER_00Hey beautiful souls, welcome, welcome back to the sweet spot. You are listening to Take Action Tuesday here on The Sweet Spot. I'm Dr. Derek Sweet, a board certified psychiatrist, but more than that, I'm your companion. I'm your companion on this journey of alignment. Alignment, rhythm, and renewal. Yes, this week on The Sweet Spot, we are looking at the seven alignments. We've decided that at this time of the year, alignment is so critical. How aligned are we with our biology? How aligned are we with our psychology? How aligned are our relationships? And are we aligned in our spiritual life? Because alignment, it turns out, is the key to joy, to happiness, to success, to resilience. It's the path forward and we're spending time in it. Absolutely. Yesterday we aligned with truth on Making Moves Monday. We said that truth has to be the ground beneath our feet. It has to be the foundation. It has to be the thing that we set our compass on. We said that if we don't move in truth, we will never arrive at the correct destination. Today, Take Action Tuesday, the second alignment is with energy, the rhythm that moves your life forward. Because once you know where you stand, the next question becomes: how do I move from here without losing myself? And on a day like today, on a week like this week, this quiet question of how do I not lose myself when I take action is where energy is the key. The energy that you need is always about moving yourself in the right direction so that you don't end up being depleted. And why does energy matter? You see, energy is not hype, it's not motivation, it's not about mood. Energy is about your capacity. Yes, your capacity to do things, your capacity to accomplish things, that's what you need your energy for. Your ability to show up with presence, with clarity, and with strength. You know, when you don't have the energy, you can't show up that way. And you've got to know what's depleting your energy, and you've got to align with what gives you energy. Don't be misaligned because when you're misaligned, you're not feeling the energy. And you know when you're misaligned because whatever you're misaligned with drains you, doesn't it? Yeah. And sometimes we're just misaligned with ourselves. We're just so busy just doing us that we're not, we don't even know that we're misaligned. Author Jim Murphy of Inner Excellence puts it this way: ruthlessly eliminate hurry. Ruthlessly eliminate hurry. Don't be in such a hurry all the time. That's a kind of misalignment, right? Not because hurry is wrong, don't get me wrong on that. Not because hurry is wrong, but because hurry can fracture your energy. Author David Hawkins says letting go actually lifts you up. Meaning that the energy you free up is more powerful than the energy that you force yourself to do things with. You have to stack energy, let it grow interest, so that when you need to withdraw from the bank, you actually have it. Yeah. Your energy is governed by real physiological rhythms. Here on the sweet spot, we're about science, soul, and success. And we have to understand that energy is governed by physiological, biological rhythms in our bodies. Ultra-D rhythms like a 90 to 120-minute natural cycle of focus and fatigue. We've got to respect these. We've got to respect the circadian rhythms. If we don't, we won't be in the right recovery cycles. And you need to recover because you're being drained emotionally, mentally, and physically every day. Something's coming to deplete it or compete for it. And you must have an intentional pause. You've got to realign with your energy because it's a rhythm and um not just a resource. An alignment is learning to move with your rhythm, not against it. Yeah. Your energy follows whatever you are working with, whatever you put your intentions around. The message Bible, the ancient wisdom, says, keep company with me and you will learn to live freely and lightly. That's in Matthew 11, verse 29. Keep company with me and you learn to live freely and lightly. In the King James Version, if you like that much better, ye shall find rest unto your souls. Your energy follows wherever you're walking with. You've got to spend time with your creator, with your maker in your divine space, because that too can give you energy. If you're doing it all yourself, and you're just expending all that energy on your own without getting it repleted or refurnished or or or rebooted by the most high, by the divine one, by God, you're gonna lose out, you're gonna burn out. That happens. You're gonna drain out, and you've got to be careful. Sometimes it's the loss of energy that's the first step to disease. It's the loss of energy that's the first step to somebody being fed up in a relationship, or fed up or angry, or burnt out on a job. It's the energy that they're losing, and they don't have an energy replacement strategy. So, today the question I want you to ask yourself, especially this week, is what's been draining me all year? What's been draining me all week? What's draining me today? What drains me and what restores me? I want you to spend a moment with that. Take a step back, take a deep breath in through the nose, and then slowly out through the mouth. You always have to let your exhale be longer than your inhale. When you let your exhale be longer than your inhale, your body is being signaled that you're relaxing, that you're letting go, and it's a great time for energy to start thinking about returning. Take that deep breath and ask yourself today or write it down. What drains me and what restores me? You'd be surprised if you dared to ask yourself that question and you dare to take my challenge today and write it down. That you would see that there might be something, someone, or some process in your life that needs to be adjusted. Yeah, your energy is telling the truth. It does tell the truth. Listen to it. When you're feeling drained, figure out what's draining you. I'll bet you have an answer. Choose one restoring action today, even one small one. That's my other challenge to you. One small restoring action. I don't care if you go for a walk for two minutes, I don't care if you take another deep breath in, and then slowly out. If that's all you have time for, or if you can just take a quiet moment. Whatever you can do to reset, that will help you align with your rhythm, and your rhythm will return the favor to you. Believe me on that one. Take a moment for your energy, align your energy with the right things. Figure out what's training your energy and realign. You've been listening to the sweet spot. Today is Take Action Tuesday, and the action you're taking is to reclaim your energy, to align with the right energy.
