Science Soul Success
It's take action Tuesday and we challenge the idea that branding is optional by showing how we broadcast our reputation in every room we enter. We use a simple three-layer framework to build an intentional brand through a genuine smile, an authentic personality, and the feeling people carry after we leave.
SUITE SPOTS
• the difference between having a brand and choosing it on purpose
• your smile as a “logo” that sets first impressions
• the neuroscience behind a genuine smile and mirroring
• your personality as the real business card people remember
• the feeling you leave behind as your trademark, not your resume
• a three-part audit to align smile, presence, and impact
• character as the part of your brand that cannot be copied

Take Action Tuesday Kickoff
SPEAKER_00Well, it's Take Action Tuesday, and I hope you're ready to go because I am. I'm right here with you in the game of life. I'm your teammate, Dr. Derek Sweet, and you're listening to The Sweet Spot, where science, soul, and success come together so that we can win. Good morning, or good afternoon, or good evening, depending on where you are and at what time you're listening here to The Sweet Spot. We're delighted to have you on board, and we're in a journey this week. We're calling it the search. We are searching for quotes, we're searching for sayings, we're searching for things that motivate us. And sweet spotter on Take Action Tuesday, we're gonna talk about something you're already doing, whether you realize it or not. You are already branding yourself. Did you know that? That you're branding yourself every day, every single day. Every single day you're branding yourself. And every single interaction you're doing it, and in every single room you walk into today on Take Action Tuesday, you're doing it. So the question isn't whether you have a brand. The question is, is it intentional? Is your brand intentional? And here's what I want you to sit with today. Remember, this week, every day this week, we're looking at a phrase, and we're just gonna unpack the phrase together. We're flowing this week. We're freestyling and flowing. So today's phrase is your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, the way you make them feel is your trademark. Let me say that again because it's so cool. I heard it, I heard, I heard a guy say it, and it was so cool. I had to use it. I like it. Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, the way you made them feel is your trademark. Yes, as you let that land and think about it, let me talk about this some more with you. Your smile, your personality, the way you made them feel. Three things, three layers, and every one of them is already active, already broadcasting, before you say a single word. Let's start with the logo, shall we? In the business world, a logo is the first thing people see. It's instant, it's visual, and the logo communicates something before anyone reads a word of copy or hears a single pitch. You know that when you see the logo of something, you know exactly what it is because that's the logo. You know it. You don't even have to see the name. Your smile, sweet spotter, is exactly that. Your smile is your logo. And before you think this is just about being friendly, you know we're about science, soul, and success here on the sweet spot. Neuroscience has something to say. It has something to say right here. Did you know that neuroscience research shows that a genuine smile, what the scientists call a duchen smile, right? The kind that reaches your eyes, the kind when you're you're smiling, but your eyes are also smiling. You know what that does in neuroscience? It triggers something called a mirror neuron system in the person receiving the smile. Yes, their neurons mirror your neurons because their brain doesn't just see your smile, it feels it, and then it mirrors it and it replicates it internally. It's kind of something we're born with in a way, and that's why you this song goes you smile and the whole world smiles with you, typically. So your smile isn't just an expression, it's a transmission, it's sending a message, it's a signal. So your smile, my friend, your smile, sweet spotter, sweet dreamer, sweet builder, your smile is your logo on Take Action Tuesday. And as we all know, a logo is designed on purpose. A logo is intentional. A logo shows up consistently across every platform, every touch point, every interaction, you see the logo. You must see the logo. The logo tells you what you're looking at, it tells you what this is and who this is and what it's about. So, how consistent is your logo? Does it show up across every platform? Is it across every touch point and every interaction on this Take Action Tuesday? I'm just asking. Do you want to talk about the business card? So we did the logo. Let's talk about the business card. Your personality, it says, is your business card. Do you believe that? Your personality is your business card. Think about the last time someone handed you a business card. What did it tell you? It had what it had the name, it had the title, it had the company, and and most likely the email address and the contact information. Literally. But your personality, the way you carry yourself, the energy you bring into the room, the tone you set when you speak, that tells people something a business card never could. It tells them who you actually are. Oh, the business card does give information, but it's not as powerful as the personality. That's a real business card. Yeah, your personality tells everyone who you actually are. Yeah, my Angelo said it this way: people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they'll never forget who you are, who you're being, and how you made them feel. Yeah, and that's what's beautiful about all of this is that it applies to every single one of us. Not one of us is exempt from the business card, from the logo. Whether you're a sweet spotter who's already built something significant, or maybe you're a sweet builder in the middle of creating your next chapter, or sweet dreamer, you're mapping out your where you're headed, where you're going to. Your personality is already speaking for you. Absolutely, without question. Yeah, you have a business card, and that's called your personality. The only question is, what is it saying? Now, the trademark, the way you made them feel. This is the deepest layer, right? We talked about the logo. We talked about oh, the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful business card that you have there, that personality. And now, now it's about the trademark, sweet spotter. That is the deepest, deepest, deepest layer here. The way you made them feel is your trademark. In business, in business, a trademark is protected, it's proprietary, it's the thing that is uniquely, legally, and unmistakably yours. When you trademark something, it is serious. And you know what this phrase is saying that we're unpacking here today on Take Action Tuesday. It's saying that the feeling you leave behind is your trademark. Not your resume and not your credentials. I'm not talking about that. I'm not talking about your title, I'm not talking about your resume or accomplishments, I'm not talking about your physique or the amount of money you have in the bank or the type of car you drive. No, no, no. The feeling you leave behind, sweet father, that is your trademark. The feeling. How do people feel about you when they see you? How do they feel about you when you leave the room? Think about the people in your own life that have left a mark on you. The mentor who made you feel like you could do more than you ever thought. The friend who made you feel like every conversation you had with them really mattered. The leader who walked into a room and somehow made everybody feel like it. The coach that makes you feel seen and heard, that you want to play for this coach because he's so amazing, he's so relational, he gets it or she gets it. I still remember my biochem teacher, Tom Conover. Because he loved biochemistry and he was just amazing. He was so he he empowered us to love biochemistry in medical school. I remember my uh when I was at the resident, Anthony Clay, our chief resident, a cardiologist. He was amazing, brilliant, passionate, amazing, had a great personality. The people with the personality you'd never forget. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is the most powerful brand anyone can build, and it costs nothing but intention. Do you realize that? Yeah. The way you make people feel costs nothing, it's intentional. And we always remember the feeling before we remember anything else about a person. And that is the most powerful brand anyone can build on a take action Tuesday, and it costs nothing but what? Intention. So let's hear this saying one more time that we've unpacked it together, sweet builder. Yeah, let's hear it one more time, all three layers together. Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, and the way you made them feel, sweet spotter, is your trademark. Smile, personality, and the way you made them feel. Wow, this is not about performance today. This isn't about putting on a face and managing some kind of energy. It's not about fake news or faking it. This is about aligning all three today on Take Action Tuesday. I want you to align your smile, align your logo, your business card, and your trademark. Align your personality, your smile, and the way you're gonna make people feel today on Take Action Tuesday. Because when your smile is genuine and your personality is authentic, and the feeling you leave is one of warmth and clarity and care and compassion and empowerment, that's not branding, sweet builder. That's character. Yes, sir, and character, unlike a logo, unlike a business card, and unlike a trademark, cannot be copied. So here's your Take Action Tuesday assignment. All three layers. I want you to do this today. I want you to first audit your logo. Take a look at your logo. At your next interaction today on Take Action Tuesday, whether it's a meeting, it's practice, it's a phone call, it's a class, a conversation in the hallway, whatever it is, I want you to notice your smile. Is it there? Is it even present? Is it genuine? Or have you been just moving through the day with the ill grill on, with the with the gr with the grill face, with the with the serious face? Are you frosty today? Are you hard? Are you too something out there? Are you an autopilot, not even smiling, no expressions? Audit your logo. Your smile is your logo. Make sure you're wearing your logo. Second, second, audit the business card. At the end of your day, uh, not at the beginning, once you do it at the end of your take action Tuesday, what did my energy say today? What did my presence communicate before I even opened my mouth? Was my personality today the one I would choose or the one stress chose for me? Don't let stress, don't let anxiety, don't let depression, don't let these things hide your business card. Your personality is your business card. Make sure it's representing you. And the third thing, sweet dreamer, is this. Audit your trademark. I want you to think of I want you to think of three people you interacted with yesterday. How did each of them feel when they walked away from you? Did they feel seen? Did they feel supported? Did they feel energized? Or did they feel rushed or dismissed or unimportant? Were you in your phone while you were talking to them? I speak to myself. Put the phone down, look people in the eye, listen to them, talk to them. Okay? The way you made them feel, sweet builder, that's your trademark. Make sure it's one that you're proud of. You're always creating your legacy. I want you to write these three things down tonight or at some point. Don't judge yourself. Just figure it out, you know? Just ask yourself, hey, you know, what's my what's my what's my logo looking like? What's my smile looking like? What is my business club? What's my personality looking like? And did I trade? How's my trademark doing? Are people like really feeling cool and good that I came in the room? Because you see, sweet spotter, you're already a business. Oh yeah. You've been a business since the day you started showing up in other people's lives, believe it or not. The only question left is are you running your brand on purpose? Come on now. You're a sweet spotter. You were built for this. And today I need you to show up in every interaction like you know exactly what you're broadcasting. Because now, you do. And I'll see you tomorrow for Win It All Wednesday. Hey, if you know someone who could use this message today, please share it. And if you haven't subscribed, join us. Join us here.
